146 Question
Hi,
Just bought a 1997 P 146 1.8TS without seeing it (I know, but the old 'must have Alfa' mist descended on me). Got it cheap enough £1000 plus tax. It's champagne with black velour. What differences are there between this and my old 146 1.6TS please guys? Plus it only has the one key, major problem? Or did they only come with one at this age? Thanks in advance Alex |

Or did they only come with one > at this age? could be a problem yes, with mine should have been 2 red (in colour) remote keys altho i only got one and cant afford to spend £80 on another one! , but more importantly i have the "RED" key (which is almost a browny colour) which is the master master key, without that i dont think you can get new keys cut without putting a new ecu in or something like that |

The biggest improvement of the 1.8TS (and 2.0TS) over the 1.6TS is that
the front brake discs are 284mm (bigger) and ventilated (survive harder abuse). Also it's easier to find proper race grade pads for those calipers, pads like PFC or Ferodo DS3000. (And yes they work on cold mornings in Sweden too.) Rear brakes are discs, but that's not very important. To sum it us: Small improvement in engine performance and a large improvement in brake performance. Means you will lap a lot fater on track days. Also the shocks were a bit better, but are probably worn out anyway, so you will need to upgrade them anyhow. Thanks for the good answers. The seller has stated it has a black velour
interior. Anyone got a link to any pics? Does it have rear head rests? Thanks Again Alex "Richard Manley-Reeve" > wrote in message ... > > > "Alex C" > wrote in message > > ... > > > Hi, > > > > > > Just bought a 1997 P 146 1.8TS without seeing it (I know, but the old > > 'must > > > have Alfa' mist descended on me). Yes, it should have rear head rests. Pics of my old 97 model on
Catman's website, but can't remember if there were any interior shots. I disagree with the guy who said very little differnce from 1.6TS - it has an extra 20bhp, only 10bhp down on the Ti and is a lot quicker. I ran 97 1.8 for 4 years while my my wife had a 145 Cloverleaf, and there wasn't that much between them. Had a few 1.6TS courtesy cars from the dealer, and they were a lot slower. Anyway, I loved mine, so have fun and dont put the handbrake on in winter. Alfajock On Sat, 15 May 2004 17:41:07 +0100, "Alex C" > wrote: >Thanks for the good answers.
