'95 Lebaron security system reset (it won't start!)
Hi all, my sister is having trouble with her 1995 Chrysler Lebaron
convertible (with 3.0 and 4 speed overdrive automatic (poor soul)). She had the starter replaced, and when the shop hooked the battery back up the security light won't stop blinking... and the car won't start using the key. The shop called Chrysler, who said that unlocking the driver's door with the key would reset the system. So far that hasn't worked. I've searched through newsgroups and found another possible reset procedure (that I haven't tried yet... probably will today). It said to unhook the battery and pull the fuse for the security system. Then hook the battery back up before putting the fuse back. Sounds a bit simple to me. Anybody have any other suggestions? Could it be a bad switch in the lock for the driver's door? If so, it that switch able to be bypassed somehow? I still can't figure out, though, why a security system would need to go into this defensive mode just because the battery was unhooked. It is common for thieves to try and subvert the security system by unhooking the battery? Thanks for any ideas. |
