I actually test drove one of these back when and decided pretty quickly that
it wasn't a suitable vehicle for Canadian winters. This little puddle jumper didn't fit in the tracks of other cars with the result that in the snow it had a terrible time. An interesting point is that, where I live, the Messerschmidt is a motorcycle. Thus, like the current crop of fast and expensive 3-wheel pseudo-racers, it is exempt from most of the "safety" legislation that effectively prohibits many of the small 4-wheeled cars of the past. And many of those small 4-wheeled cars burned less fuel than the highly touted modern hybrids, needed less than half as much area to park, and could be produced today for less than a third of the initial cost--in addition to the much lower maintenance cost and eventually the recycling cost...
