Default Civic Ex auto locks - has this happened to anyone?

Last week I washed and waxed my 2004 Civic EX for the first time. As I was
running the towel over the car near the rear door lock, all 4 locks were
triggered closed. Can static electricity cause this to happen? Luckily the
keys weren't in the car or I would have been locked out (temporarily of
course). Has this happened to anyone or should I be bringing it in to the
dealer for a check up?

No, but pressing the lock button on the remote, while leaning against the car
can.

I did neither - it was triggered as I ran the towel across the rear door.

I once had an apine with an auto-lock feature that lock my keys inside.

Accord EX's have auto lock.... Unlock with the remote...walk back for what you forgot,
it relocks in 10 seconds. Unlock with the remote, open the door, toss your stuff and
keys on the seat, close the door and it locks in 10 seconds......

Correct.

My Accord doesn't do that. And why would you toss your keys on the seat?
Keep them in your hand or pocket until you're ready to start the engine!

That's wise but at least people don't lock themselves out, cars do. Anyway,
I meant to say, "Alpine" Auto Alarms up the thread.

I do not know about 2004 Civic EX's; my 2003 takes one full minute to
auto-relock after first unlocking by remote,not 10 seconds (I know,I
timed it with a stopwatch). If I am delayed in entering the vehicle for
some reason,I usually keep the driver's side door open until I am ready
to enter.
