Default MP3 CD? ..or is it not to be?

Hiya,

I'm an Alfisto since my first car, have a couple of Alfetta GT's and a 2600
project car, and quite recently a 147 jtdm has joined them (replacing my
Golf V - hey, nobody's perfect :-).

The dealer (who does not know diddly about such things) swears the spec
sheet says my car has an MP3-enabled cd player. However, the cd player
refuses to accept my home-cooked MP3 disks. I've had a look at the manual
but that was more confusing than anything else (wahey, they do print them in
other languages than Italian nowadays, great. But still confusing) so I was
wondering if you gents had any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong.

I know, not really a gearhead kind of question, I'll make up for that once I
start adjusting the carburettors on the 2600 :-)

Many thanks in advance
Req

According to the brochure, an MP3/CD/Radio is an optional extra in place of
the standard CD/Radio.
