Coker Tire Challenge
The Coker Tire Challenge is a "regional" event the kind of old cars
that you've probably seen on TV when "The Great Race" is televised. It ran last weekend starting in Chattanooga. The SCCA had a set of competition classes for "regular" cars, rather than just those that are pre-1972. I ran the rally and had a great time, but our scores were not up to the experts in the old cars, even tho I used my $1400 dedicated rally computer. The old cars were using electronic SPEEDometers, and turning in some amazing scores that we could not match. The rally ran over 3 days, with 2 full days of competition on Friday and Saturday, and a half day on Sunday. The scenery was beautiful, the roads interesting. We had a great time and tied for first place for SCCA points, but lost the tiebreaker for a very nice trophy. Question: Anyone think they might want to run this rally if it were held again next year? The entry fee was $350 for SCCA entrants and included a hosted dinner on Friday and a hosted lunch on Sunday. |
