Default The non-thinking stupidity of liberal-think.

An innovative process that starts with an algae slurry efficiently
produces crude oil in less than an hour, researchers say.

The biocrude oil can then be refined conventionally into gasoline, diesel
and aviation fuel. Pacific Northwest National Laboratory engineers say
their method is a continuous process that beats previous attempts to
harness algae as fuel.

They say their work has led to a cheaper and less energy intensive
technique. It also results in a wastewater stream from which flammable gas
can be recovered and nutrients that can grow more algae.

"Cost is the big roadblock for algae-based fuel," said lead researcher
Douglas Elliott in a statement. “We believe that the process we’ve created
will help make algae biofuels much more economical.”

Fantastic!...But The quickest least expensive alternative is to just buy a
Electric car!..Ive bought a Nissan Leaf for -0- down and $199/mo on a
24/mo lease, I was sending $250-$300/mo on gas, so the first Day I Was
Saving Money, and producing -0- Omissions..thats the best reward! NO
Omissions into the air, helping to turn around 80 years of damage to our
planet by the countries using gas combustible engines. We currently only
have 1 fort to live in...thank you - Mavi founder of www.skipthetrip.com

Mavi, you have one huge omission and that is the production and cost of
electricity. You do have emissions, but they aren't coming from you, they
are coming from the electric generation plant which most likely burns coal
or natural gas. Also, you need to add in the cost increase of your
electric bill when looking at your savings. It drives me nuts when people
fail to look at the whole picture.

Try 2 huge omissions! The electrical generation & the smelting of lead for
that battery, that is pollution on a large scale. There is no free lunch,
we just keeping moving the problem to some other place.

To a centralized location where they can be controlled more effectively.
Instead of thousands of tailpipes with precious metals and ceramics
inside... How many people work for the oil company on this board?

From people that don’t know electric cars run on Lithium, or insist that
petroleum is environmentally friendly and renewable...

And lithium batteries are so environmentally safe and economical...NOT!!!!

Electrical generation can come from a myriad of sources...

And electric cars don’t use lead batteries.

Although some have a regular 12v battery to run the radio and dash lights.

Meanwhile, the last virgin lead smelter in America closed down recently.

Everything else is recycled lead, including bullets.

They haven't stopped making lead, they stopped lead production for
bullets. Tree huggers think this is the answer to removing lead from the
environment. I used to shoot competitive skeet and every 2 yrs down range
the lead would be harvested for recycling. Canada produces lead, ask NASA,
the area around the plant is so despoiled they test moon & Mars rovers
there.

Until someone comes up with a cheap method of storing elec. from solar e-
cars are going to require fossil fueled energy. There is a + in that
because you can't just shut down any steam producing plant, they have to
run even without demand because it takes so long to bring heat back to
operating levels.

Why should e-cars get tax breaks? They still require an outside source for
energy and they don't pay their share in road maintenance. This is why the
idea of mileage based taxes keeps rearing it's ugly head. The same people
who rant about the NSA are going to be telling the gov't everywhere they
go.

Ronald Reagan "The worst words to hear: I'm from the gov't and I'm here to
help you." When they try to regulate anything it's like pulling on a
spider web, there are so many interfaces you couldn't possibly consider
them all and someplace just like the "Lady & the Tiger" that big ugly
spider waits.

Were does the electricity you use in your car come from? If you're like
most of the country it comes from Coal Burning plants. So... you probably
have a coal burning car that pollutes the environment worse than your gas
guzzler did... but at least you feel better about yourself!

You didn’t get the memo that electricity from coal plants is down to 38% ?

Electric cars are running of nuclear power, natural gas and wind power
now.

Exactly 1 nuclear plant has been approved for construction in the last 10
yrs, e-wind would require storage methods that currently don't exist and
NG production has all the environmentalist telling all sorts of lies about
burning tap water. Texas A&M just released a report correcting an earlier
report and now says they overestimated the release to the atmosphere of
harmful chemicals used in NG production by 1/2. Anybody read it in the
news - NO! Another study was just done that says the chemicals used in
fracking are hazardous to people but in the last paragraph they admit
nobody has ever been exposed to these chemicals so it's all just theory
cloaked as science. Why not do the entire periodic table if the gov't (u &
I) will pay for it?

Come up with an electric vehicle that can match the range and operating
costs of gasoline powered ones and you won't need to spam sites like this
one.
