2005 Honda Civic LX
A good friend of mine just informed me that her 5 month old 2005 civic is
making a noise to the front end. When she took it to the local dealership, she was informed it was a brake issue. She was told that this was a problem associated with the Honda Civics for the past couple years, and it is not covered under the warrantee. She was given a flyer stating this information. I haven’t seen the paper they provider her and I haven’t test drove her car to see what the potential problem is but I would like to know if anyone has heard of or experienced a similar problem. We’re going to drive her car down to the dealership where she made the purchase to see if they can bring light to this issue. The information is vague and I don’t have first hand knowledge of this, but it just seems weird that a brand new vehicle would not be covered bumper to bumper for any problems that suddenly emerge. I hope that someone can confirm or deny any such information. Thanks. |

Can you give more details on the noise? Is it a clicking sound when she first starts driving the car each time? If so, then there's nothing that can be done because it's not a defect, nor can it be fixed, it's just an annoying sound. |

Can you post or email me a scan of the paper that was given to your friend? -- TeGGeR® The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |

I believe she told me it was a clicking sound, but I'm not sure when it
starts or the duration. I will ask her and get back to you. Thanks for your reply. |

While I haven't had this problem with my 2004 EX Civic, my wife had it in her Subaru Forrester after we took it on a Ski Trip. The "grinding" lasted about a week, then went away. -- jerry |
