The one I installed is an aftermarket radiator from Summit Racing. It
fits with a little trimming of the rubber isolation mounts on the shroud.

Thanks John. I've been talking to DeWitts about theirs. As I understand
it, the DeWitts radiator has a double row, whereas the GM has a single row.
I would think that would make a significant difference in the cooling. Did
you have to trim the fan shroud?

Thanks,
Chas.

Did

I just had a new radiator installed in my 1994 Corvette and
it was from GM, but the core was twice as thick. It only runs
a few degrees cooler even in hot temperatures. I had a new
radiator, water pump, thermostat and hoses installed.

I see what you mean Charlie. My '94 Service Manual (Pg. 6B-27; Fig. 31) shows two, but I suspect it really means they are alternative locations. Mine only has one on the thermostate housing and (this may be stretching) the description says "Air Bleed Valve" not valves plural. Anyway, from the drawing, I can't see why there would be two at that location. The one on the thermostate housing seems to be at the highest point in the system as well.

Thanks,
Chas.

Mine has a bleeder screw at the front of the engine on the thermostat housing. After you warm it up, put a rag under the area and open it a little and let the air out a few times until air stops coming out and the fluid comes out steady. Some systems have 2 bleeder screws, check your book. I thought mine did, but couldn't find the second one where they said it should be located.

I need some help. 1990 c4, temp is good when driving but when idling
the temp begins to rise and almost overheats. No leaks, replaced all
seals and gaskets, changed thermostat. Water pump appears to be
working but not well, no leaks from weep holes. Is the pump starting
to fail but no symptoms? What do you think? I plan to change the pump
out this week end, I am wondering if I am overlooking something.

Thanks
Joe

Clean out the cooling fins in front ot the condenser & radiator.
You can buy "coil cleaner" at any hardware or HVAC store -- spray it
on & hose it off. Also if your condenser is starting to leak, it will
collect dirt & grime on the condenser which will impede airflow.

I recently replaced my condenser and cleaned my radiator with coil
cleaner. After that, I got a Hypertech chip with a 160 degree
thermostat. The temp gauge on my 1990 never goes over 190-200 degrees
even on a hot day with the a/c running in traffic.

Also you can try RedLine Water Wetter to lower the temp also.
