Is the six speed manual tranny better than the five speed ong...
You can put a ring and pinion 3.636 on your LSD and pick up some top
end. I know that even with the 3.909 in my 2003 6 speed, I turn 400 RPM less at 60 MPH than I did in my 1991 5 speed at 60. I think that the older RX-7 and the Mazda MX6 had taller ( open road rear gears ) I don't know about the MX6, but I think the RX-7 will bolt up to the rear of a Miata. ( RX-7 has a 5 bolt wheel lug pt'rn.) then again I think Thundebird will fit too with some shaft shortning. :-) Just try to remember that the Miata engine was made to turn at high end RPM . If you want low RPM and a good top end, go buy a 2003 or later Corvette. 70 to 80 in 6th gear only turns about 1500 RPM and about 25 MPG. (and a lot more confortable to go cross country in! ) Bruce Bing '03 LS |
