Default heater core

I have a 92 mercury sable and have antifreeze all over my engine and there
was smoke outside and inside of the car while driving. Could that be a
heater core and are there any free diagrams online where i can view to do
it myself???

I'd refill the rad, start up and see what there is to see under the
hood. Sounds more like a blown rad hose or heater hose. Easy repair.

If it is indeed a bad core needing replacement, AND if it is like the
older Taurus/Sable, it is a tremendous task to replace. I've replaced
engines, trannies, differentials--but the Sable/Taurus heater cores I would
not tackle UNLESS the '92 design has been greatly improved in comparison to
the 86-89's. Better (yet costly) to hire a good specialist to do it. s
