Default Installing NR2K3 on new system - weird problem

I'm building a new machine for my dad, and i've installed nr2k3 and the
patch. When I run config.exe to set up the renderer, it gives me the
following two error messages, and then terminates:

1) Cannot obtain a list of available adapters from the selected
renderer.

2) Cannot obtain a list of available display modes from the selected
renderer and display adapter.

System is:
ASRock 939Dual SataII
AMD64/3200
MSI X800 PCIe Video card (running Catalyst 5.12)
Windows2000 with service pack 4

Anyone have any ideas?

Start the list .. Heh , no ... try removing ,and re-installing newer drivers
...I've just looked and even I am running 6.1 catalyst by now .. so maybe
newer drivers will help.. like the PCIe is a new thing so maybe it needs
newer drivers.. just a thought .... ( a small and helpful thought )
