GTR official demo is out
Ran it again last night night. What I found is that every car on my block
can handle those 60mph corners a lot better than the demo car. It's a very easy, slow, boring drive compared to not only the F1 cars (not even close), but also the Cup boats and TA cars in N2003, and even the GPL cars. There's no razor's edge. Braking is dull. No punch when you accelerate. Even a chicane can be fun if you are driving a car that you keep on the edge all the way through. This car feels like it's in mud. No adrenaline rush at all. You'll never have understeer if you go slow enough, but what a boring way to spend my sim time. :-) I want to drive a car that challenges me to dance on the edge and go as fast as possible, not one who's major challenge is to make sure I don't push too hard on 60mph turns. :-( Anyone can do that. It may be though that with the sim physics, and a different car (550?), on a different track, that it will feel a lot more ferocious. I doubt it though. Schumacher said recently, "I like precise cars," he says. "I don't like these heavy things. They are so slow, and I think they are going too slow for me. I try always to do more than they can do." I feel exactly the same towards any sim cars that are boring to drive. Im really missing the point your trying to make Dave. F1C while OK had
serious physics issues. TA Mod is nothing more than a 6 speed Nascar sim on RC's yet you keep finding ways to put down GTR which far surpasses both the titles you mention by leaps and bounds (OK graphics, physics, multi TBD). GTR feels like a real car, maybe thats why its boring? It sure takes a bunch of work to make a pass, requires utmost precision to drive fast yet is more forgiving (like a real car) than either title you say is better (or less boring). A bunch a people on this same NG said how bad GPL was when the demo was released also so Im taking it with a grain of salt and am happily waiting for the full release. Look for world view or head movement..something in that order. dh |

Look for world view or head movement..something in that > order. They don't stop the bobbing up & down thought AFAIK. It is a tough one to simulate but stare at the screen and bob your head and your eyes will compensate for the movement. In fact you can move your head quite significantly but still remain focused on a given point. It seems to be a preference thing - in which case Simbin would be advised to provide an option to reduce it. Personally instead of feeling like a stiff performance car feeling every bump if feels like the dampers were forgotten... Back in the old days I had an Avenger with Spax adjustable dampers (the rally car...). I adjusted them up to get a bit of rally oversteer (as you do) so it was a pretty firm and bumpy ride along some rough farm tracks ("whites" for those in the know). The demise of the car came when my navigator borrowed the car and stuck it in a ditch. We retrieved it and took off anything decent including the rear dampers and towed it to the breakers yard. GTR feels like the Avenger after we took the stiff dampers off completely... All IMHO of course. Cheers Tony |

One thing I found to help that in fps is to increase the details so that the frame rate comes down, but thats not a good idea for a driving game. MadDAWG |

I dont even notice it anymore. Head movement really contributes to the
immersion factor and it also gives me great feedback on what the car is doing. Going back to NR2003 is now a very sterile experience. Low Framerate isnt really an acceptable option IMO. One word..
