So, the lower control arms are different on a police car?
Or GM just avoiding liability?

Probably. the bad news is that they're likely beefier than the ones on
the civvy models!

I dont know whats up with GM and the impala suspension parts.
first there was the deal a few years back on rear arms causing
premature rear tire wear and them being recalled for commercial
customers and NOT consumers.

And now this. Repeat? time will tell.

Now the 2014 Impala is getting rave reviews. All new.
Did GM finally get the message? Or are there going to be
more cheapskate gremlins hiding in the closet?

what value is a "review" of a product not yet available to the public?
i mean, if the reviewer's publisher carried paid advertising for that
manufacturer, and there is no one else able to contradict, and that
manufacturer only released to "reviewers" known to be favorable*, does
anything they say have any real credibility?

* this is the oldest "product management" trick in the marketing book.

It'll take a while for that to be seen... most of the issues with the
previous Impala weren't evident on a test drive (other than the awful
handling.)

The old Checker cabs used some Ford front suspension parts.

Well, i went out and looked at a 14 impala. I'm not one to be easily
impressed, but this car was nice. It looked nice. Interior did not
look El-cheapo. Lots of back seat space. Lots or trunk space.
Mileage was good (EPA anyway-real world will tell)
If it did not have a Chevy badge on it i might have thought
it was another make.

good social experiment: print out BMW emblem and tape it over Chevy
logo, then drive around some "happening" night clubs with stupid women
and see how many get in.

The latest version is getting very good reviews from the press, unlike
the last couple. I hope that GM got it right this time, for their sake.
