I always figured the chimes were calling me a ding-dong.

Very. After our 81 degree day a week ago, last night we hit 0 with wind
chill and a few miles north got near a foot of snow.

Sorry to hear about your loss.... These cars are like our children. But more
obedient.

I wish I had a chime that said "Hey stupid you only THINK you closed
the trunk!" I have run down my battery twice when I was at home and
didn't quite close the trunk - go out in the morning and think DAMNED.
I didn't even figure it out. My husband came home late one night and
when he opened the garage he saw the light in my trunk on. I felt like
an idiot. I'm also worried about the auto locks triggering because
when I park the car in the garage at home I leave the keys on the
dashboard. (If I bring them in the house I'll spend 30 minutes looking
for them the next day). My solution is to always leave the lid down
or, if it came home wet, to leave the windows down. My dog probably
COULD open a window but he wouldn't - just out of spite.

Heh, another good reason to hold onto my 1990 - no trunk light. <g>

Actually I put one of those "stick-on" lights in the trunk. If I
leave it turned on, the only battery that goes dead is the one in the
light, *not* the one in the car.
