4x4 ? What Model
I purchased a 1968 Chevy 4x4 and I don't know if it is a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton
or a "C" or "K". It has been painted over many times and I can't find a model #. The Vin # starts with "KE149Z......" Can someone help? |

I believe the "C" denotes 2-wheel drive, and "K" means 4-wheel drive.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong... As for 1/2 or 3/4 ton, you might be able to tell by the rear axle it has and/or how many lug nuts hold on the wheels. Sadly, I'm no expert on old Chevys so I don't know what would be what. That truck is a 4x4 1/2 ton by what I see of that vin. If you can print the
whole vin I might be able to see more. Should be an 8 somewhere tellin you that it is 68 from what I see it might be 69. Scott |

if it is a 4x4 it is a k model. 4x2 is a c model. 1/2 ton will have 6 lug
nuts, 3/4- 1 ton will have 8 lug nuts "collectorbob" > wrote in message lkaboutautos.com... > I purchased a 1968 Chevy 4x4 and I don't know if it is a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton > or a "C" or "K". > It has been painted over many times and I can't find a model #. C= 2 wheel drive K = 4 wheel drive I'm not surw what year the C designation started...I do know it ran back into the 70's I you get the full vin number the local GM dealer can run the vin and tell you all the options. Many insurance companies and body shops have access to vin information also. ---- remove the ** to email |
