Default Sim racing-based hardware benchmarks?

I'm looking at upgrading my pc soon, and I was wondering if anyone knew of
links to sites which run racing games for benchmarks. I'd be particularly
interested in what kind of hardware to run the likes of GTR and NR2003 with
'everything on'.

It doesnt take a bunch of power to max out NR2003. GTR on the other hand I
dont think can be maxed quite yet. If it can be maxed the FR wont be very
good (less than 40 is unacceptable to me)

Bottom line, buy the most performance oriented HW you can afford if you want
to run GTr in all its glory.

Im not going to get into the Pentium/Athlon64 or the ATI/Nvidia debate
though. Each has strengths depending upon your needs.

Anything in the 3gig+ range and a decent video card (X800/6800GT) should be
pretty good for your needs.

I'd like to SOME guru make a racing sim a benchmark for hardware. To
me, it's more indicative of the performance of a piece of hardware in
my gaming genre than the DOOM or UT benchmarks. Those are games that I
don't play and have no concept of what frames they need/should be
getting. Telling me that UT at 800x600x16 get 120 fps means nothing.
Why would you run a game at that screen res anyway, other than BM'ing?
Telling me that at 1280x1024x32 that Doom3 gets 56 fps also means
little to me as 56 fps there might only be 30 in GTR.

Show me/Tell me that "Title X" is cpu dependant, or "Title Y" is GPU
heavy and why, and then run a BM at a screen res that ppl. actually
use. At least that give some indication of the difference in hardware
performance.

Is there a way (as a group, "Sim Racers") that we can get ahold of some
review factory and ask them to include a racing title in their
benchmark battery? SOMEONE here must "know" someone....

Fraps will benchmark.. Not tried it.. But it claims to.

Maybe if we setup a standard situation we could benchmark a few platforms?!?

Just a thought?
