Default Rush hour isn't pretty in Atlanta!

Hi Viatologists,

Courtesy of the Tennessean, a Nashville-based newspaper, here's a look at
rush-hour traffic in Atlanta:

http://tinyurl.com/3ycy6m

I foresee many grimaces, teeth-grinding and stressed folk even though this
metro-area has expanded the expressway into multiple through lanes.
Widening on surrounding beltways and arterials may be the next step in
keeping traffic moving forward.

As many of you may know, and on a related note, Atlanta's Interstate 75/85
duplex is one of the most congested thoroughfares--per capita--in the United
States.

Cheers,

Clicked the link and all I got was a picture of what I presume is
75/85 outside downtown ATL.
Went to http://tennessean.com, BNA's newspaper, found the headline
about the Chargers shocking the Titans to be more interesting. GO
JAGS!

It is? I've driven both 75/85 through the city and 285 around the ATL.
I much prefer 75/85 through (I'm able to get throught the city like
shot through a barrel...), even with the congestion. Much the same as
I prefer to do 95 through JAX as opposed to 295 or 9A around it.

That doesn't look so bad. traffic appears to be moving fairly well,
actually. I'd trade that for the Cross-Bronx Expressway or the NJ
Holland Tunnel approach.

Teaching people how to drive would keep traffic moving forward. Since
the average individual can't be bothered with such trivial processes,
though, let's just add more freakin' lanes.

I can assure you that photo is NOT I-75/85 through Atlanta, I'm
guessing it's I-20 but honestly I'm not 100% certain that it's ATL at
all in the photo.

It's awful!

On I-85 South heading towards downtown traffic starts backing up at
the GA-400 Merge (about 4 miles NE of the I-75/85 Brookwood
Interchange) during late afternoon rush hour, go figure that one out.

i agree it's not anywhere along the connector. I'm
thinking somewhere along I-20 from the east or possibly
I-285 a bit north of I-20... it is Atlanta, you can tell
by the 191 Peachtree St. building (has two parts on top),
the BoA building, etc. Those outlines match perfectly.

Looking at the C/D lanes in the lower left of the pic I'm guessing
it's I-20 East of the city, facing NW.

That's what I was thinking; that the traffic seems to be flowing
rather nicely. But then, that wouldn't be the first time that krl got
something wrong.....

Shows how much I know about the ATL, I guess. My experience with the
place being either passing through on 75/85 or in the concourses of
Hartsfield (in the days when I flew DL).

Is it just me, or does anyone else envision a high squeeky voice (much
like Mickey Mouse's) when they read the words, "Hi viatologists?"
