Default Hot news about import in Holland

Alfa Romeo and "Kroymans" (importer in The Netherlands of i.e. Ferrari) have
come to an agreement about importing Alfa's in The Netherlands from 1 June
2005
All Dutch Alfa dealers have been informed during a special dealer meeting
today.
FIAT Auto Netherlands used to import Fiat, Alfa and Lancia.
What the role of the present Alfa dealers (many also Fiat and/or Lancia
dealer) will be is yet unknown (better not published)
Reason is that Alfa Romeo wishes strategically strenghten Alfa's position in
the Dutch market.
Kroymans said the "emotional strenght" (whatever that may be) of the Alfa
brand is a strong basis for future succes.

Personal note:
I have heard (??) all dealerships will be transformed to raise above the old
Fiat level and BMW is used as a target.
Empahsis will be on class, sportiness and good service (YES, FINALLY!!!!!!!)

Kroymans not only imports Ferrari, but also i.e. Maserati, Cadillac, Hummer,
Saab, Jaguar, Aston Martin ;-)

I have no personal experiences with Kroymans but when I hear that name I
am not getting very happy. Maybe I am bit biased and I hope things will
turn out well but I just don't know. Most important for me is that I am
very happy with my dealer and that will be unchanged, I am sure.

Reminds me to a nice Italian I met last summer in a plane. He told me he
was working for Fiat and in particularly for Alfa Romeo. He worked on
the marketing department where they make the Alfa Romeo websites. All
the websites in the different countries have the same layout except the
Dutch AR website. It was a special case, the importer was not related to
the factory or something IIRC. Maybe that will change too now?

Well, at least Kroyman's image as "classy" car people is better than what
Fiat has done to Alfa over the last 10 years in Holland.
Eliminating virtually all "old" dealers that did a good job but refused to
invest in expensive showrooms in favor of the Alfisti feeling (workshop led
in stead of showroom led)
I have been forced to change my dealer 4 times in the last 10 years due to
this; starting with Auto Aalbers in Oosterbeek, the second oldest Alfa
dealer in the country (how is that about killing tradition)
Service got worse at every change, only to improve again a little over the
last 2 years.
Thta's the disadvantage of a leased car; you're bound to an official dealer
for service ;-(
As they also negotiated about Lancia and Fiat as well (which Kroymans
rejected from the beginning) this is surely one of the reasons why
Fiat/Alfa/Lancia are not present at the RAI Amsterdam car show.
And the Dutch Alfa website is in a sort of "under construction" for many
weeks now and indeed lacked the informative content all other Alfa website
have.

Yes, I also know to good but small dealers. One stopped, the other went
on as a workshop.

4 times in 10 years... Thats not good to build up some trust.

I prefer an Alfa Romeo dealer but I know they are not all up to the
right performance. I know there are more good companys who have lost
their heart to Alfa Romeo. I have no experiences here. I do have bad
experience with some official dealers though.
