HELP I bought a VW Corrado 1.8 16v 1993 with a bust engine. After total
engine rebuild I did not know about electrical faults i.e fuse box in a
mess and a few loose wires under the bonnet - 1. Black wire beside the
fuel distributor which switches fan on if it comes into contact with the
body or the engine, even if the ignition is off.
2. Blue and white wire from distributor loom is not attached, Haynes
manual has it on a temperature sender but a red and green wire and a red
and yellow wire is attached to both sensors beside the warm up valve.
Car has been driving well, then suddenly engine becomes difficult,
sometimes impossible to accelorate when engine is warm, the rev counter
flickers up and down irratically, the engine stalls while driving and
backfires. Also the oil cooler feels very hot. This problem seems to go
as mysteriously as it appears, everything seems fine, then it comes back
again.
HELP Anyone with any idea of whats going on here.

hello demented one..... this group caters to the old aircooled vw's of
yore.... you would have much better luck with responses in the "sister"
group rec.autos.makers.vw.watercooled.
good luck...

1) remove all antifreeze. Dispose as per local regulations.
2) remove radiator, fan, heater core, all hosing and thermostat.
3) weld fins to the block.
