Scottish Alfa Specialist?
Hi,
I've had my 164 3.0 Super (133K miles) for a year and a half now, pretty much trouble free. The first MOT was pricey at over £500, and it's nearly that time again. A few weeks ago when I was changing the wing, I could see the timing belt was looking pretty tired and worn. I don't have a full history for the car (bought from a mate) so have no idea when,(or if!) the last change was. I only paid £600 for it, already doubled that with last years MOT and the recent repairs I've had to carry out due to a drunk driver hitting me. So, assuming there's nothing major wrong at the MOT I was considering getting the timing belt done as well, as the engine seems in great condition. I have been told to expect to pay around £400 for the timing belt, can anyone confirm if that's about right? I would also appreciate any recommendations for scottish alfa garages (I'm in Glasgow but can travel) who would have the experience to do the timing belt correctly. I really should sell this car, what with the price of fuel here in the UK..but it's soooo hard to part...!! Thanks for any suggestions, FrankyG |
