The Big 3 Detroit-based automakers are seeking about $25 billion in
federal loans as they struggle to ride out a steep downturn in U.S.
auto sales, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

How come you brainwashed-by-the-media right wing douchebags scream
"socialism is evil" whenever a national healthcare plan is proposed,
but you are all fine with corporate socialism?

Oh - I have answered my own question... you're brainwashed by the same
corporate media that tells you it's "liberal". L -****ing - O - L

i can't understand why the big corporations aren't leading the call for
national health care.
it would cut down their costs quite a bit. if anybody would benefit from
national health care big business would.

Right-wingers are a Burden on this country, they aren't good for
anything in the political realm. They fight against our best
interests.

We already are consumers of corporate goods. We don't owe them jack
****, especially when they cannot solve their problems, when the big
boys still make out like the wealth rockafellers

We're NOT fine with it.

Real conservatives (not the "compassionate conservative" crap artists
like Bush) would prefer that all the American auto companies should go
out of business and be restructured as non-union shops. Once they adopt
the business model of Toyota and Honda, they will be as successful as
Toyota and Honda.

McCain also opposed giving the new Air Force tanker contract to Boeing.
He believed (correctly) that Airbus, a French company, offers better
value for the same money. It was liberal DEMOCRATS like Patty Murray
who squawked when the Air Force gave the contract to Airbus, and forced
the Air Force to recompete the contract.

Because then their executives would be forced into the same plan as
the rest of us.

You're right on the corporate welfare thing..
But wrong on the 'crappy' cars thing.

There are now numerous US made GM vehicles that exceed jap models in
comfort, quality, and performance..
The problem is that corporate media has brainwashed you to think that
jap cars are better.

Daihatsu doesn't count.

It is not just Japanese cars (excluding Mitsubishi and Mazda) which are
better, so are German, Swedish and Australian cars.

The little talked about secret of American capitalism: corporate
welfare.

Check this out, Bhagat:

"JD Power and Associates has released its annual automotive
dependability study, and for the 14th straight year, Lexus stands atop
the list. Overall, the dependability of the average new car has
improved over last year, according to Power's analysis.

The study ranks vehicle brands by the number of problems reported for
each 100 vehicle sold. The AP reports, "Lexus had 120 problems per 100
vehicles, down from 145 last year."

The five most reliable automakers in the study included two domestic
makes. "Ford Motor Co.'s Mercury brand ranked second, followed by
General Motors Corp.'s Cadillac. Toyota was fourth, and Honda Motor
Co.'s Acura luxury brand was fifth." The lowest-performing brand in
the study, Land Rover, showed 344 problems per 100 new vehicles. ....

Two out of the top three were US car manufacturers !!!
Ford and GM.
