Default Dials (needles) disappeared in Escort mod

I ran a quick few laps around Hitchin, then tried a night race at
LeMans, virutally nonexistant headlights btw, then over to MidOhio. Once
I loaded MidOhio, my needles were gone. I left and loaded Spa.....still
no needles. Unpacked and overwrote files again, still no needles. I
changed no options at all in case somebody asks, nothing whatsoever.
Just poof, gone. Any ideas?

Vern....bad boy...bad...you are using the out-of-body view aren't you?
Cockpit should have all the necessary info without that humongous HUD they
provide.

No Dave..........NEVER EVER do I use anything BUT cockpit.....how else
is it "racing"? I've never seen any successful driver sit ON his
car.....tsk tsk. I figured it all out when I jumped into an original
Porsche at MidOhio and the same thing, next track, same thing.......so I
systematically starting mashing the keyboard until the right sequence
gave the desired effect....never ON the car, only in. The defence
rests your honour.

Personally I would like a cockpit view that shows what the driver would
see through the section of the windscreen directly in front that a
driver would normally be looking through and filling his or her eyes
with. Preferably in natural size on a 19 inch monitor. This would
probably need to be compressed to a degree to allow wider angle of the
windscreen to be visible. No more than a third of the bottom of the
screen should be dashboard with instruments. NO WHEEL - I already have
one of those. I find the cockpit view in GTR to include too much,
making everything too small (on my 19" LCD). I have tried moving the
view forward but it still doesnt give the feel I want.

I HATE that stupid extra steering wheel. IIRC the cockpit view even
includes a small part of the roof - now that is puting screen space to
good use - who needs to see that?

The problem is to show enough of the road and the corners of the car
without having a "wide screen" letter box windscreen with the rest of
the screen filled up with interior.

The bonnet view is the closest thing to what I want. Now if the bonnet
was exchanged for a dashboard with instruments..

regards
Graham
