Default Alfa 156 TSpark Catalytic Converter

I suppose it had to happen at some point - given that the car has around
120k miles on it now - the 'brick' inside the catalyst has come loose
and is rattling around inside it's housing.

A bit of digging around on the 'net shows that they can be had for very
little money - around 80 quid, delivered.

Has anyone ever replaced one themselves? - it doesn't look as bad as
most jobs as it involves flat mating surfaces rather than flanged pipes.

Currently deciding if it's something I could do with a trolley jack and
axle stands on the drive.

Haven't done the cat, but I did do the front section and as you said,
it's flat flanges. Soak the bolts with penetrating oil for an evening
before you start and all should be ok. Just don't drop the new one!
