Car Wax - 04 Thread

Yes, I've seen this before, but I haven't seen any recent posts or
threads on the subject. Which is, favorite/best car waxes. I just
got a new Subaru, if that matters, and I'd like to protect it with a
little wax or polish. Suggestions? Thx

You don't "protect" with polish - it's like 4000-grit sandpaper, a
mild abrasive that removes paint. You use polish and clay bars when
you've got flaws in the finish, period.
If you're looking to protect your paint, a cheap synthetic polymer
wax lasts the longest and protects best. High carnauba content waxes
that cost a bundle don't protect as long, but they look a lot better.
I use plain old Turtle Wax most times, and break out the Meguiars and
Zymol for when I want the cars to look fantastic and/or the weather's
mild.

Have tried many. Like this one the best.
Read and follow instructions.
Clay bar is a good idea, even for a new car.
I like their catalyst.
May be more than you want to spend, but will likely improve even the
appearance of a new car. Then regular washing with Z-7 may be all
that's needed to maintain the appearance and protection.

Couple of suggestions:
1.) For a thorough and long lasting job, I've used Amsoil's Car Polish
after a good wash and wipped down dry.
2.) For a quick five minute touch-up, if not too dirty, my wife loves
the Amsoil Miracle Waterless Wash.
I've also used the Rainshield for a fantastic way to keep the rain
from beading on our windshield and mirror glass.
