90 Accord cruise control diagnostic
So the cruise control stopped working on my 90 Accord.
Went through diagnostics on fuse, cruise main switch, both OK then started through the list on the cruise control module input harness. Got to the clutch terminal and got a fault (no continuity to ground). Checked the clutch switch which is the next test in the list and found that the metal bracket attached to the pedal assembly has a hole in it where it should make contact with the clutch switch. So it does not do anything to the switch post when the clutch is pushed or released. Looks like some unrecognizable broken plastic pieces on the floorboard. Is there a plastic component that fills that hole? could I put a screw and nut in the hole and accomplish the same thing? Anyone run into this before? Frank |

Ask the dealer to fax you the exploded view of the parts manual. The part is plastic, but if you want to replace it yourself, maybe a chunk of rubber would do? 'Curly' |

Probably, but the replacement part is only a buck or two. Check http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com, but they charge shipping + $5 handling, so you are probably better off going to your local dealer. |

I'll go to the dealer. Thanks Frank |

I just had the same thing happen to my 88 Accord LX 5 Spd. Just made repair
a little while ago. I looked up under the dash to find the thickness of the plastic piece on the brake pedal. Found a bolt with a head close to the same thickness, put it through the hole in the clutch pedal, installed lock-washer and a nut...just like brand-new.
