Need radiator replacement for 88 Prelude 2.0Si
I'm looking for a guaranteed-to-fit aftermarket radiator replacement
for my 88 Prelude 2.0Si. My preference would be to find the original (Toyo 62702) in the U.S. somewhere for a reasonable amount (up to $200 or so). But, so far I've found the Toyo only at Honda, for around $400. I just tried a Modine radiator from NAPA. It was 1/4" too tall, making it rub the cross piece above it. But, the real showstopper was that the fan switch fitting wasn't angled upwards like on the stock radiator, so the switch doesn't clear an obstructing crosswise support piece. My NAPA experience taught me that this particular application is such a tight fit in a few places that it leaves no room for error. So, at this point my choices a a) try another aftermarket but only if it has a strong endorsement b) look into having my leaking radiator rebuilt, although I'm concerned about 16-year-old brittle plastic. c) head for the Honda dealer with my checkbook. If you know of a specific brand and model that fits, and that has good quality, please let me know. Thanks, Ron |
