Default Mallory dizzy's on a RRc

Hi, My rangie has got a Mallory dizzy on it (the on with two setos of
condensors and points on it...)

Recently I'm getting problems with what I've traced down to the dizzy:

if I put my foot down, it splutters and does not pick up, but does it
fine if I don't floor it.
I had wondered about changing the points and condensors, but it almost
sounds like the vacuum advance unit isn't working?

any ideas?

some people have suggested that I put a standard dizzy on it as the
mallory's dont like getting wet, but I though any dizzy doesn't like
the wet stuff?!

HELP!!
