UPDATE: Four dead, 44 injured in Orion Pacific tour bus crash in Soledad

Staff and wire reports • April 28, 2009

Four people are confirmed dead and 44 injured in a tour bus crash this
afternoon at a Highway 101 overpass near Soledad, according to the
California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses said it appears that the bus struck a railing on the highway
bridge and overturned.

About 30 feet of railing was ripped from the bridge and luggage and
clothing was strewn throughout the crash scene.

Three or four of the passengers were ejected from the bus, the CHP said,
and fell 30 to 40 feet from the highway bridge.
