Default Today's rant

Businesses who don't see fit to prominently display their street number on
their front door or window. Trying to watch for traffic (and bicyclists)
while searching for an elusive business name or number is a real bitch.

Cities that don't show the hundred-block number on the street signs,
where you can check it when stopped at lights.

Then again, if you know the address, you *could* always display it on
MapQuest.com before you go. That'll tell you what block it's on.

It's especially problematic in places where many/most of the signs are in
Chinese. Yes, English is required, but that doesn't make it all that much
easier -- it just gives you twice as many things to evaluate.

Or do it in really tiny numbers. I've found a few intersections on main roads
that don't even have street names <boggle>.

Yeah, but I'm not always at my computer. Nearly always, but still...

Not many businesses give map coordinates. Perhaps one of the fancy systems
could direct me to Chan's Yardage Shop even if I don't know the address, but
it seems silly to invest in an accessory that's worth more than the car you
put it in.
