This group is too quiet!

Lets start a happy topic (hopefully) - How are everyone's alfas going?

Mine has now topped 65k miles. Oct 2002 (52 plate) 2.0JTS Turismo dark blue.

Mods: New radio head as the old CD player refused to play CDs after a
viscious bump in the road.

Nothing major wrong - touch wood. I parked in a car park with annoying kerb
arrangement round a tree last week and 'bonked' the exhaust, now I have an
annoying buzzy/rattle around 1200rpm, but I'm fairly sure its just a bracket
that has come loose, or partially sheered. Maybe even a lose heat shield. It
rattles when I shut the rear doors firmly or the boot. Also the front
speakers occasionally stop working on one side (either side) - the fix for
that is to turn the volume up high for a moment and they spring back to life
for another day or two. Seems like a duff connection or a dirty contact.
Other than that all is going well...

Good idea !

Ah. Not so good. The 156 made a *very* disturbing noise when I started
it up this morning. Didn't want to idle either, sour of sounded like a
valve. But it seems fine now, so wibble flip.

84k coming up.

Want one of these:

http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/ca.../parrot-rk8200

But will probably wait until I get a new car. I have a Parrot ck3100
Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB head (no DAB aerial) and a Harmon Kardon Drive
and Play.

Oooh that's a point. I clunked a kerb on Sunday. Wonder if that's it.

Hmmmm, the 156 needs the air-con topping up and possibly a leak fixing.
That can wait. Looks a bit scruffy these days, but it's 9 years and 132k
miles old now. Needs to last another 3 years, really. Might get it
'detailed' next spring to hopefully get the paint looking kind of OK
again.

The 75 hasn't done many miles, but did do a 100 mile classic car tour a
few weeks ago. Haven't taken it to the track because I've not had a lot
of time and also because the header tank is leaking and I can't find a
replacement.

My 1.8 Veloce is coming up for its 8th birthday, at about 82,000 miles, the
ever-dreaded MOT is due at the end of September...

Scrubs up not too badly, a bit like its owner (not). Just had a noisy front
wheel bearing changed. New radio/CD because the original was acting up. This
new one plays CD-RWs and MP3s - wonderful! The undershield finally gave way a
wee while ago.

Wish-list: wheels refurbished; new sill jacking-point covers (the originals
disappeared long ago); new bonnet badge - the original is very faded; air-con
overhaul.

It's an iPod storage and connector really. Your phone logs in via Bluetooth

Well here are mine.

My Feb.2005 GT 2.0JTS is doing fine.
Now just over 80.000km. never misfired once, all official service without
any stange things.
New front tyres at 45.000km and new rears at 60.000km
New brake pads front at 60.000km
Had to top up the oil twice between service (1 ltr at 35.000km and 1.5ltr at
75.000km)

My 1974 Montreal is in 99% condition; now at the fall service at our local
Alfa specialist just for some minor things.

My 146 1.6 TS has now completed 92000 miles.
The variator started to make the diesel noises at 30000 miles.
I had the cambelt and variator changed at 55000 miles and now
at 92000 it is starting the diesel noises again.
I believe I read that oil somehow affects the life of the variator.
What should I be doing to increase the life of my variator?

I could also tell you how I increased my mpg from 34 to 37 by using a
magnet but you probably would not believe me!

Probably Nothing, as long as you're using decent oil.

You're right, I wouldn't.
