Default Boot lid lever

Has anyone else questioned the sense of having the boot lid and petrol cap
lever side by side?

I flicked the boot open the other day in error instead of the petrol cap,
realised what I had done and flicked the petrol cap open, then went through
the car wash having not shut the boot.

It was a very tense few minutes.

No. Never really seems a problem
