Theft-Deterrent alarms
2007 Ion 3 "Theft-Deterrent"
I have found the "theft-deterrent" alarm to be a major nuisance. It is very easy to set it off accidentally ( e.g. arm it with the FOB then unlock the door with the key). This will get you evil looks and unkind words if it happens in the church parking lot. I asked my dealer to "disarm the alarms" and got "it can't be done". I had the exact same problem with a 2001 Ford Escape and the dealer did indeed disarm the alarms at my request. Is GM engineering 6 years behind Ford or am I being stonewalled by my dealer? Has anyone out there had their alarms "disarmed"? The owners manual is incomplete in this area. On page 98 of the manual it states "it can be programmed to three different modes" , then it describes only two modes. What is the third? |

So many things come to mind but I think you said it all right there. > >I asked my dealer to "disarm the alarms" and got "it can't be >done".
