Default [tyres] Any experience with PZero ROSSO or Conti SC2 ?

I have to choose between the two tyres in object, to mount on a 156 1.8 ts
(205/55 r16), the price is similar, the Pirelli cost a little less because
they're not "fresh", they have been produced in late 2002.
Any experience , good or bad that can help me ?

Daniele

I wouldn't go for either.
Pirelli's are OLD!!
Conti's? Well I just hate them under an Alfa.
IMHO Alfa's drive best on "new" Pirelli, Michelin, Dunlop & GoodYear.

The only good Continental's are "Saalsport" tyres
and you wont get them to fit any Alfa <LOL>

Ah, helpful advice. Not.
I would agree to avoid Continentals. Rumours are that they don't suit Alfas.
How about Eagle F1-DS3s? Very good on the GTV, but I have no experience with
them on the 156.

I have Pirelli PZero Nero on my 156 V6. They are 225/50 R16 and are very
sticky.
Best setup I ever tested, and they are very comfy as well as sporty. They
are stable and does not make the "hollywood noise" even if you push them to
their limit.

Highly recomended.

regards

Dag

I have 235/45ZR17 P Zero Rossos on my 156 2.0 TS, which I have now driven
for about 5.000 km.

They are a little bit too wide for the rims, but I like them so far. They
grip really well, also in rain.

They are comfortable, but "ride" the stripes in the road as any other wide
tyre does.

Not so much noise - yet anyway.

I had 215/45ZR17 Bridgestone Potenza S03 Pole Position before, they got saw
toothed, and were very noisy. Can't recommend those.

Have the F1's on my 156SW now.
Befor that Dunlop SP1 and Pirelli P7000
All o.k. but Pirelli is VERY noisy and vonurable to cupping and Dunlop is
quite silent.
F1 is a nice combination of both.
On my 155 2.0 (97-2000) I had Michelin and Pirelli PZero's; both o.k.
For one reason or the other I have never seen Dutch Alfa's with Conti's from
new.
As far as I know Alfa never uses them ex-factory.
In my 156SW owners manual they only mention Pirelli, Michelin, GoodYear and
Firestone. (Firestone not for the V6's!!!)

How is that not helpful advice?
I points out clearly that although Continental do make GOOD tyres,
and that one may hear high recommendation for them, that they are
NOT suitable for an Alfa Romeo.
Which answers the OP question #2 in the Thread Subject.

It looks fairly likely that mine did. Either that or the supplying
dealer went to the effort of swapping them over.

I'm currently running on Continental Premium Contact tyres and I find them very
good. Not much noise and plenty of grip. What is supposed to be the problem?
