Default mickey moused blower?

Ok guys ive been hearing from a couple of people that if you connect(i dont
know if you have to cut a hole or not) the doghouse to the carb that it will
work like a blower. What do you guys think? is it possible to gain hp by
doing this, would it not cool the engine down like it should? the pro's and
con's of it. I have a '73 super 1600. And also do they have a five speed
standard trans for bugs?

Nope. Won't work. Even if you didn't need the air cooling, the fan can't
create enough pressure; it backs up. Tell those couple people they are full
of it.

Does not work.

No.

You can adapt a Certain Porsche 5 speed, or buy a conversion kit from
Gene Berg, which is not quite as strong. (you'd still be relying on
stock VW parts in the rest of the transmission)
