Yeah "the other forums" being mostly rscnet, I agree with you that I don't
want to move on there. It's a (very) fragmented mess, there's no cohesion
at all. No soul. Other PC gaming newsgroups are worse, check out the
comp.sys.idm.pc.games.* hierarchy.

My own ISP (the national #1 Canadian ISP) is dropping their NNTP server at
the end of the month. Sad.

I'm never sure whom actually won that I know that rasf1 vs. DGF
actually became a TKO by submission in the 8th round against David!

The rapid decay rate in the past year is for the most that, but there's
something else. The market for serious PC racing sims is not anymore a
mainstream market like it was back 5 years ago.

Stirring up trouble doesn't seem to have affected much of the r.a.s.
history. Trust *me*, I know that for a fact!

There was a well balanced mess of serious and non-serious posts, which all
helped the community of racing simulations fans.

> What kind of stuff has been said here lately that you can't say on RSC?

RSC is filled up with moderators, strict guidelines, "things you cannot
mention", sticky threads that are useless, internal wars that are hidden to
the public, cowardly attitude in front of developpers, etc...

Where do you get the idea PC racing simulations was ever a mainstream
market?

I think there's enough neat stuff coming to spice it up again, but it will
be a while.

Yes yes we saw the incredible numbers of PC racing sim developpers showing
off their upcoming release at E3.

Oh wait there was none.

Sales of Papy sims (they were in the top 10 yearly sellers at one time).
Sales of Geoff Crammond sims (also in the top 10 yearly sellers at one
time).

Yes, like any police force, it ends up amounting to a bunch of silly
bitches interested only in cutting everyones balls off and making it
impossible to set and maintain any standards. No room for any characters at
all and a place with no character other than that of a bunch of pooftas or
softcocks at best.

As far as things being quiet around here goes, I'd agree with the fact
that ISPs are tending to not supply access to usenet as standard - if at
all! A failing of government if you ask me - all governments should make
usenet access free to their citizens.

I'd also say that Papy's/Kaemer's absense is related. rFactor is
probably a little to chaotic for most peoples liking - hunting down tracks
and cars.

Papy = install and go
rFactor = install and join the endless search/wait for this and that

Not much else worthy of mention other than that all else contribute
further to the thinning/spreading out of simmers and simming in general and
amounting to more chaos.

We need a governing body and centralisation that deliver "WORLD" series!
