The truck jacknifed and was laying on its side blocking both lanes. The kids were mostly asleep. This was the lead bus in a convoy returning from a competition. The truck driver was 22 and reportedly had a suspended driver's license. If there was a wall that suddenly appeared on the freeway in the middle of the night, could all you always stop by the time you noticed the dark shape in your headlights? Remember they don't put lights or reflectors on the bottom of a trailer. Crosspost list looks a little troll oriented so I trimmed. Hard to see what this has to do with politics. |

Laura Bush murdered her boy friend:

Ever driven on an unlighted highway?? Didn't think so. Ever hear of the definition of "black?" Didn't think so. > Sheesh. Another criminal coddler calling this an "accident". Not according to the story that started this thread = it very clearly says LANE, as in ONE lane. >This was the lead bus in a convoy returning from a competition. Hmm.. So how many other buses in that convoy crashed? >The truck driver was 22 and reportedly had a suspended >driver's license. Irrelevant. He could just as easily have been 45 with a spotless record. The deer that wanders across the road in front of your truck (and there are a ****LOAD of them in the Osseo area) doesn't discriminate based on your driving record. >If there was a wall that suddenly appeared on the freeway in the middle >of the night, could all you always stop by the time you noticed the dark >shape in your headlights? If you're the second bus in a convoy, when the first bus hits the "wall" it becomes a "wall" for you. The second bus becomes a "wall" for the third bus, and so on down the line. Yet ALL of those other bus drivers managed to avoid ALL those "walls" and stop safely. Why? |

The So the reason for the accident was that the parents were too ****ing stupid, and allowed their kids to be on a ****ing school bus without seat belts at 2 in the morning. |

If I couldn't, it would mean I was either seriously overdriving my headlights or wasn't paying sufficient attention for some reason -- so-called "highway hypnosis" being one likely reason. -- There's no such thing as a free lunch, but certain accounting practices can result in a fully-depreciated one. |

Not around here. Bev, that was exactly my point (or one of them). Ignoring the others, driving without a seatbelt is dangerous, and no child should have to die because the government won't mandate seat belts. Talk about the NEA and big business being out of control. In any case, add this to circumstances that one would strive to keep children from: Being on the road at 2:00 AM. A time when it is far more likely to encounter a drunk driver. They were driven by someone who undoubtedly was tired. The driver was old. The kids were thought to be sleeping (no background noise to keep driver up, nor someone to talk to him and watch to see he is awake) Unlighted stretch of highway, which combined with the elderly driver allows us to assume his probable lack of night vision made him a higher safety risk than others. Shall I go on? It ****es me off to hear of any child dying because of stupidity. A lot of stupid people contributed to this, including the parents, school, state licensing, federal government, et cetera. Yet in the end, the parent makes the call as to whether the child goes. |
