Default More warrenty woes...

I have a full service histry with my vehicle, however some of my services
are a little too late. i.e. I have gone over the service interval by around
6,000 miles (mostly due to the wait I needed to get a courtesy car.... I do
around 2000 miles per week and waiting two weeks for a courtesy car to be
available puts the miles up by another 4,000 miles !!!!

Anyway, even though the dealers never told me it would cause a problem with
my warrenty, now that I come to claim somthing under warrenty on my 156 they
are saying my warrenty is void because my failire to meet the service
conditions...

My problem is a clanking cluth, which means 800 quid to replace at my alfa
garage...

Where do i stand... i.e. I am now onto Alfa UK to get them to re-validate
the warrenty, will it do any good? Has anybody got experince in this area?
and how to get around the silly issues....

Its not as is I have missed services they have been a few weeks late... my
car is now upto 51000 miles and only recently had its 48,000 miles
service...

Is it now worth going to Mr Clutch or other back street garages? Or can i
use my early contract termination to chuck the car back to Alfa Finance?

'Full' is incorrect..as you're about to explain..

Far too much. The extended warranties I've seen only allow +/- 250
miles. This is a BIG disadvantage to such schemes if you do high
mileages and cannot get services organised in time.

As far as the insurance will be concerned, you simply booked 2-3 weeks
later than you should have.

The only thing that matters to them is getting your money. Any claims
they make will be disallowed in the small print of the warranty terms
and conditions. The small print will also state the service window.

Not surprising in this case.

Probably not. Even if it does, their 'Plan B' will then come into
effect..you know.. the one where wearable items (clutches etc) are not
covered!

>Has anybody got experince in this area?

Yes.

>and how to get around the silly issues....

Stick to the terms of the contract you signed?

Services are defined at time AND mileage intervals. You have passed
the time one but not the mileage one.

I've no idea if these are good ideas but, if I were you, I'd just get
it done at an Alfa dealership and put this down to (unpleasant)
experience.. :-(

You could try legal action for unfair contract but you're so far over
the mileage limits (50%) that this would be unlikely to bear fruit
IMHO.

I can't see how you would be surprised that they won't pay for repairs to a
piece of expensive machinery that you have openly admitted to abusing. To be
honest it's not really unreasonble to expect you to take at least come care
of it is it?

Go to a specialist ... they will charge between 50-75% of a dealer and do
the job better and quicker.

Recommendations?

There was no I am going to pay 800+ quid to the dealer when I am chucking
the car back ...

I have been given a rough figure from my local family friend mechanic for
300-500 quid - which i'm pretty happy with - as long as it works for a few
weeks im not arsed !!! it wont be mine after that !
