Classic (UK version of the Monterey) with reversed sloping rear window and no parcel shelf. Then a Zephyr (UK name with US origins) then a Zodiac US styling with UK mechanicals. Trip into unknown territory an Austin 'Vanden-Plas' 4 litre R with a RR engine (from the Champ army truck I must add). Then a couple of Imps by ROOTS or Chrysler by then. Back to Ford for the Mk2 Cortina GT then a Mk2 Lotus then back to a Mk2 with a 3 liter V6 (Home brew) then a Granada 3 litre V6 auto. Whilst in the "trade" I had several RR shadows, a couple of Ferraris a Dino V6 and an old superleggera or as you might know it the Super America?? Then my First BMW E3 3.3LiA --- many other BMWs followed 3.3LiA 3.0CSL then divorce but now back on track with my 3rd in the past 10 years. BTW my Lamborghini P400 Muria was one of the best real super cars I have ever owned both for pleasure and posing and pulling........... I'll >bet you don't know how to pronounce it, either... All typos are deliberate and actually I used to know the late John Passini of webber UK actually it wasn't Webber UK then but a dingy group of sheds in west London and if you read his book you'll know what I mean. That guy could dyno tune a Webber carb just by listening to it - well almost as plug reading helped too. The problem is it is now a lost art. So don't call me a liar as I could sue you. |

I have a 740 IL 2001. its got 80k on it. everymonth somehting goes wrong. so far nav screen replaced nav core replaced engine head gaskets redone entire tranny replaced and yesterday the alternator went-another 1500 Just the fact that this much ghad to be done before 80k over the scheduled maintenance is unacceptable to most people. non stop drain. while it was under warranty my part of the payment would be around 1k. now it will never be less than 2k for sure. its a nice ride, but the maintnence is killer and its not even a 100k miles on it. the ultimate driving machine.....yea right. anything but a BMW now. and I have only driven BMWs since 88. my 325 IS did bettwer than the 740-absurdly expensive car. |
