Honda S 2000
I lucked out and found a 2005 Honda S2000 with 31,300 miles for $17k --
picked it up today. Of course, I guess at age 70 I should act my age -- but it sure replaces the Prelude I gave up 6 years ago. Reminds me a lot of the British sports cars I drove years ago in the 60s -- Sunbeam Tiger and a 64 XKE -- only better. |

Honda S 2000
I owned a 62 E-Type and an 94 Prelude. The E-Type was hell on earth, and cost a lot of money to maintain. The Prelude was reliable, very nice driving, and probably a better overall car. I gave it to my son. I really, really, miss the Jaguar. The Honda was antiseptic, but the Jaguar had a real heart and soul. If I could get either car back, it would be the Jaguar. I don't know what a 94 Prelude goes for today, but a 62 E-Type is about $70K.

I was stationed (USAF) at Laredo AFB TX at the time where the E did not do well in town during the hot Summers -- a good steam engine. I bought the E used with 20k miles on it for $3,100. It was a red roadster and I dearly loved it. At the same time I had a line on a 1953 XK 120 for about $1000 and passed it up. The 120 drove like a truck compared with the E. I would like to have both cars today. |
