That's part of the danger of over-filling: it may allow excessive air to get
emulsified in the ATF, and then the air compresses when pressure is applied to the clutches. "SoCalMike" > wrote in message news:hCAnd.361258$wV.346572@attbi_s54... > jim beam wrote: > > great data point mat. wondered why my tranny was flaring. thanks! > > internal clutch packs not clutching |

My 1993 Accord manual (and the local Honda dealer) says Dex III is OK, but many local independent shops now flatly insist on using the Honda stuff--must be lawsuit-o-phobia. I wish they wouldn't, 'cos I prefer they use a tranny-flush machine instead of a simple drain-and-refill. With the (ab)use this car gets, it needs the flush: the old ATF is often scorched brown after 30K miles. I wonder if the Mobil 1 would do any better though...I'd been using whatever they typically put in there (Valvoline Max-Life would be my guess), until this last time, when I had to wait for the "new management" to fetch...four quarts of Genuine Honda ATF. At about $5 a quart. I'll be taking my business elsewhere next time. |
