That's part of the danger of over-filling: it may allow excessive air to get
emulsified in the ATF, and then the air compresses when pressure is applied
to the clutches.

My 1993 Accord manual (and the local Honda dealer) says Dex III is OK,
but many local independent shops now flatly insist on using the Honda
stuff--must be lawsuit-o-phobia. I wish they wouldn't, 'cos I prefer
they use a tranny-flush machine instead of a simple drain-and-refill.
With the (ab)use this car gets, it needs the flush: the old ATF is
often scorched brown after 30K miles.
I wonder if the Mobil 1 would do any better though...I'd been using
whatever they typically put in there (Valvoline Max-Life would be my
guess), until this last time, when I had to wait for the "new
management" to fetch...four quarts of Genuine Honda ATF. At about $5 a
quart. I'll be taking my business elsewhere next time.
