Default 1995 IndyCar Season for rFactor Starting Soon. Join Now!

After spending nearly 6 months heavily racing and testing iDT's "1995
CART Season" it has proven to be the best multidisciplinary "North
American Open Wheel" mod for rFactor that my group has come across.
This is an advanced mod but probably not well suited for casual
racers, very much like RLD's 1979 F1 mod. The wide variety of car,
tire and engine combinations keep the iDT's "1995 CART Season" mod
interesting even for the most advanced SIM Racer. Unlike RLD's 79 F1
mod where car combinations are usually easy to determine by team,
iDT's "1995 CART Season" requires a little more digging into the team
cars to reveal all the combinations. And not always are the dominant
cars of era the best performing car in every discipline. So the
variance in car performance keeps the interest of the advanced racer.

The "1995 CART Season" is also a complete mod from the physics level.
Whereas some recently released "North American Open Wheel" mods have
incomplete or wrong physics developments or are missing cars or are
simply from an era of underpowered cars, iDT's "1995 CART Season"
represents the pinnacle of the sport that we all loved and has
complete physics development for all 3 aerodynamic/track disciplines.

The cars perform well in at all 3 aerodynamic disciplines ... Road
Course, Short Oval and Super Speedway. The setup maker that doesn't
spend enough time working out all the details of the setup can find
himself behind the curve, because in Super Speedway configuration,
finding the right combination of tire pressure and differential
settings can be challenging. I hear many people say there is something
wrong with the mod simply because they have not figured out the proper
setting for the low down force Super Speedway aerodynamic package.
This is a special set of disciplines where to go fast you must have
highly asymmetrical car geometry. For the driver, even at optimal
Super Speedway settings it is still a challenge because the right rear
tire is at maximum tire pressures and is very slippery when leaving
pit lane, and this is where the bulk of the complaining is about. So
demonstrating you throttle skill and not shifting at a point affected
by "turbo lag" is important. That's just what it takes to drive these
cars. When you drop into a "Racer Alex Indianapolis 500" server and
Joe Hassle is kicking your tail, it's because he has worked out the
details and you haven't.

iDT's "1995 CART Season" mod also performs well as a pickup racing
"league recruiting tool." Whereas RLD's 98 CART mod with it's "forced"
backward "hanford" device effects and "snap loose" 15 degreeF tire
temperature disparity on "drafting" tracks, requires modification for
practical use. This also excludes RLD's 98 mod from being a practical
"league recruiting tool." iDT's "1995 CART Season" is good "right out
of the box."

There are so many good things about this mod that make it good for
both pickup racing and league racing, they are too many to mention.
But all things are not perfect. When we get to optimum tire
performance the tire temperatures do not look like you would expect
and this is truly the only area where the RLD 98 CART mod is better
than the "1995 CART Season." Even though things may not always look
right visually there is plenty of optimum tire performance. You just
have to get used to the tire temperatures not looking right when you
go back to the garage, especially in road race configuration.

This is a serious mod for serious SIM Racers. My team "Ludicrous
Speed" will be posting many setups here to help perpetuate the use of
this mod as the season approaches Indy.

Congratulations to iDT for this excellent mod.
