2000 Saturn Idle Problem
Having a little problem with my 2000 Saturn SL1 (stick shift, no
options except A/C and whatever engine they came with) 82k miles When the engine returns to idle when I stop very often the RPMs drop down to about 400 then right before it dies it catches itself and runs back up around 1200 then drops to regular idle. Sometimes it idles perfect, sometimes it does this hunting once or twice each time I stop and sometimes it just keeps hunting over and over. Most time if you goose it a little and immediately let off the gas it will die but it rarely dies when doing its idle anomaly. No service engine light and no codes stored. I don't know much about these and don't have a FSM for it yet. Any ideas on what could be causing the problem and what I would need to do to resolve the issue? Steve B. |

I've seen that exact problem cause high or irregular idle on the 1.9. Also check the MAP sensor hose while you're under the hood. Have you specifically scanned for pending codes? Can your scantool (or whomever's scantool that determined no codes present) display manufacturer codes above P1000? Toyota MDT in MO |
