But yes I agree that most updates are not concentrated solely on the sim, I wasn't aware iRacing had an agreement with you on what had to be mentioned in updates. |

Sigh, no they don't have an agreement to tell me Tim, was just a comment on
the lack of information seen by a potential customer. Perhaps taking such comments and using them in a constructive way for the next update would be an idea, instead of trying to be a smart ass. Excuse me? I wasn't even trying. The simple fact is that if iRacing is spending it's time marketing to the real racing world right now, what does that matter? We all know that simracers will try any sim said to be decent enough (people keep trying the same arcade games, time after time, hoping for improvement), but a lot of real racers and teams need a lot of persuasion to see racing sims as anything more than games. |

Well thanks for the confirmation at least that iRacing doesn't really care
for the sim community. I guess we will buy/try anything so why bother even keeping them in the loop eh? All I was looking for was some sort of update on the status of the SIM side of the business but apparently that is asking too much. Great attitude BTW. Odd since the iRacing FAQ seems to imply otherwise: "09. Is this a mod of NASCAR Racing: 2003 Season? No. We used the NR2003 code as a starting point, taking advantage of its greatest strengths, such as the net code, which allows full fields of drivers to race online in real time, and the replay system, which enables drivers to review their on-track performance. But every major section of the code has substantially improved for the iRacing.com simulation, and large portions are all new." Seems to me that implies that NR2003 code was the starting point is some form at least and iRacing is not a clean slate starting codebase. |

Not hard at all Tim, to be honest I assumed there were a large number
of volunteers either more qualified or, more likely, quicker on the draw than I was. My main point is that more regular updates would be a good idea (IMHO). I'd love to get some banter going on a couple of the Porsche Racing forum sites I frequent but not until there is something to actually talk about. I don't think I'm the one writing with attitude, I don't know you from
Adam so why would I care? Let's quote from my own post: "marketing to the real racing world right now"... Do you read "right now" or not? I didn't confirm a damn thing like you suggest and it's extremely rude of you to suggest as such. A lot of people here seem perfectly able to answer their own questions even if they're wrong. If you thought you were lacking information you found a great way to kick the guy who WAS trying to help you get it. Tim. |

It doesn't seem as silly as someone posting what you posted!! A "statement" of dispute with ZERO facts or even theory to back up your "statement". I've read that iRacing is USING NR2003 code as their base. If you know different, I'm sure we would all be interested in hearing. Otherwise --- you just qualitfy as a "fan-boi" |

I hope I didn't appear with attitude to you, at least, but if I did I apologise. Anyway, hopefully see you on the track soon, somewhere. I have resigned myself from posting here now, I get bitten too often... lol I use my real email on this profile though if you want contact anytime. Cheers, Tim. |
