Default Just bought a 91 YJ...few questions

Never have used a group before, so here goes... I just bought a 91 Jeep
Wrangler YJ. Looks like the transmission is going to need work (it
grinds when downshifting). Also the dashboard light for the speedometer
does not seem to work (although all the other indicator lights work).
Can anyone lend me some expert advice regarding the tranny and the
dashboard light. Thanks alot.

Grinding on downshift (manual, I assume?) either means synchro rings, or the
clutch is out of adjustment.
As for the dash light, it's a $1 part.

My YJ was grinding a bit, it was water in the transmission from driving
through water. Changed the trans fluid and problem gone

I will second that.

Jeep in their wisdumb never put high water vents on the transmissions.
Just a stoopid button vent on the side of the shift tower.

The put high water vents on everything else like the differentials and
transfer case, but not the tranny...

I fixed mine by pulling the button and inserting a piece of steel gas
line in there for a nipple to attach a high water vent hose. I have
crossed up to 42" deep of water with no issues.
