I heard the the Rockfire RM-203 and the Radio Shack version both used the
same chip, which maybe they do, but it's certainly not implemented in the
same way. Uwe says his Rockfire has a steering resolution of 128-140
points, the Radio Shack unit I have has a lock to lock steering resolution
of 40 points. When you get into hi res USB like the Plasma Lite or ECCIs
offering, you get over a 1000 points of resolution.

Okay just to clarify. I was just trying to get across to Uwe that the unit
that comes with the TSW isn't anything that special and could probably be
picked up anywhere (Radio Shack was just an example). I didn't tell him to
just pick one up at Radio Shack. It sounds like he already had the same or
close to the same unit in the end anyways.

The plasma lite looks very nice indeed, I just recommended this to a
friend with custom made pedals. A bit pricey, yes, but from the specs it
looks like the ultimate analogue-to-USB converter out there. 10-bit AD
conversion'll give you all the resolution you'll ever want.

Who cares if you have to solder a bit, and put it in a box, if you get
the best there is. :-)

The plasma lite card documentation will explain to you how to connect
your pots to the card, it's very easy, and if you do it using a shielded
cable as well, you should be 110% ok. I have no idea how to get
connected to those pots inside your TSW, however, but it should be
self-evident. ;-)
