Default Argh! Looks like I need a new radiator

Everything went so well that something had to go wrong.

The little plastic stub where you connect the pipe that goes back to the
expansion tank snapped off whilst I was bleeding the system.

New rad. £85 delivered.

Fingers crossed it's here for next weekend.....

If it's anything like my experiences, I bet you were thinking 'this bugger
is going to break' milliseconds before it did....

I take it the head gasket is OK.

I've yet to find out..... taking a bit of a chance on overhauling the
cooling system as I don't have time to have a head gasket done before
I'm next on track.

If it does play up again, I'll have it done before the July day.

How much are the track days? How much driving do you get to do?

Do you have to do all the formal stuff or can you just go and pagger your
car around the track?

Do you look like a tw@t if your car is standard surrounded by avid modders
and BHP heads?

I fancy having a do in my MX6.

Depends on where you go.

I've looked into it and found that the 'big' tracks charge a fortune -
Castle Combe, for example, is around £180 / day and you're limited on
track time. (Unless you go to one of the 'open pit' days, when it's
chaotic - good to watch, not so good to partake in)

Airfields are cheaper - around £89-£119 / day depending on venue. They
have very strict rules over track etiquette (no overtaking in bends or
braking zones, only overtake if the slower car invites you to do so -
black flag for anyone breaking rules - so it's very risk-free).

Most airfield days are 'open pit' so you can do as many laps as you and
your car can stand. I did around 100 miles on track last time out.

You have to attend the 20min briefing - all safety and etiquette
related. You can book an instructor for £20 / 20 mins. Very useful to
book one for your first session of the day on your first ever track day.

After that - you go out when you like. There are restrictions on numbers
on the track at a time, but I never had to wait more than 10 mins to be
let out.

No. There were a few standard cars there last time. Mine was the slowest
on track by a fair margin, on paper. But I wasn't the slowest on the
track, IYSWIM.

I had a few comments about how my car looked like the most fun out
there.

JFDI, YKIMS.

Just make sure your brakes and tyres are up to it.

100 miles on the track did 4k miles of road use to my tyres.
