Default No headlights or rear lights on 1994 jeep cherokee

I start having problems with Jeep cherokee lights. The switch stopped
working and when I held the high beam switch forward they would work.
Now they have stopped working. So I replaced the switch and they still
don't work. I checked the fuses and they are fine. Is there some sort
of relay or breaker I am missing? Any help would be appreciated.

Doesn't holding the highbeam switch forward put both lights on, high and
low beams? If so it likely melted the highbeam switch.

The original trouble could be the switch or as mentioned the body ground
strap. If you have the 4.0 engine the ground strap should run from the
rear of the engine head to the firewall. It is a common failure around
here in the rust belt.
