buying a Corvette on line
Sorry for all the questions but I'm just trying to avoid mistakes and
learn from all of you (experienced owners). I'm reading the edmunds.com corvette forum earlier today and wonder how do you buy a corvette on line and out of state? a) how do you pay if it's a cash transaction? Mail a full cashier's check to them before receiving the car perhaps as certified mail or registered mail w/ insurance coverage? Actually I could use my credit cards to pay for it but not sure if any dealer works this way. b) how is the license plate handled if I want my home state license plates (Texas)? c) If I don't want to travel to pick it up, I assume it can be delivered but how does that work? I just wonder if it can be delivered to a local dealer and then I could pick it up?? I know I'm full of questions here so please bear with me. I'm new and ignorant (lack of experience) and for the moment rely on what I can find and read. Thanks all. ps-- the reason I didn't post on the edmunds.com forum yet is because the posts I see don't always prompt a quick reply (I registered on their site today) and this newsgroup seems more active or responsive to people like me. I just hope I don't wear out my welcome with all my questions here. I already owe a thanks to several people here but I don't want to mention names because no doubt I'll overlook one and hurt feelings so you know who you are and thank you already !! |

Doubtful a dealer would go for the credit card as the processing fee would be stiff on 50K Do a certified bank check. Overnight insured. > b) how is the license plate handled if I want my home state license > plates (Texas)? I jumped on a plane, 3 hour flight, they met me at the airport at 1PM, went to the dealership, did the deal and I was heading home at 2:45PM. > c) If I don't want to travel to pick it up, I assume it can be > delivered but how does that work? If in stock, a dealer can ship but it can get expensive. I'm in FL, dealer in NH, would have cost about $1,500 + to ship covered. Grab a plane, fly to the dealer and drive it back, more fun that way. > > I know I'm full of questions here so please bear with me. This group averages about 5 meanigful post's in a 24 hour period. Whats to abandon? You can participate in the forum as well as this ng. Oh, most dealers will give you a temp plate good for 20 days to transport the car. Give the vin# to your insurance company and get documentation of coverage for the return trip. |
