Gas station granny

I was in the gas station buying a morning coffee & pie today. There
were about 4 of us in the queue because the guy on coffee was slow.

Then this old granny comes up and gets a sandwich out of the
chiller. Instead of joining the queue (or even better, going to
one of the other tills where nobody was in the queue), she
stands next to the till. I come up to pay for my pie and she
smoothly butts in. Now, I JLEDI because I don't want to cause
a scene with a granny, that would be very unattractive especially
considering there was a hot filipina chick who had just got her
coffee and was still hanging around.

When the granny clears off, my bill comes to $3.05. I find $3 in
my wallet but can't find a 5c piece so I give the guy a 20c. Then
he gives me 45c in change! (Obviously thinking I'd given him
a 50c). It just goes to show that JLEDI behaviour is self-
reinforcing...

That's like saying because you let someone do it, the sun came out.

BTW, granny is used to get away with it, and will continue. Eventually
she'll run into someone like me, who's chances with the hot chick won't be
diminished any by standing up to granny's MFFY behavior.
